Responsibilities:
Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per dupe from servers.
Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare more than
estimated needs.
Date all food containers and rotate as per the SOP, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up.
Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
Return all food items not used on next shift to designed storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss and usage per SOP.
All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management
Prepare food according to hotel standards and recipes
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned station
Support senior kitchen staff (Cook I, Sous Chef, Chef de Parties)
Ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes
Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Requirements:
1 to 3 years of professional cooking experience (hotel, restaurant, or banquet setting)
Experience working in multiple kitchen stations (line cook, prep, grill, sauté, etc.)
High School Diploma or GED required
Culinary training or certification preferred but not always required
Basic to intermediate cooking techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP preferred)
Ability to follow recipes and hotel brand standards
Knife skills and experience with commercial kitchen equipment
Team player with good communication skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality
Detail-oriented and reliable
