Job Title: Baking and Pastry Chef Instructor.


4 day workweek

1 Position Available


Teach the fundamental techniques of French gourmet baking and pastry arts to students in both the Associate Degree and Vocational Degree programs. Supervise the preparation of dishes and guide the progress of students at all levels, from beginners to professionals, through hundreds of competencies including ice cream, chocolate, bread, wedding cakes, décor, and centerpieces.


  • Impart to students the fundamental recipes and techniques that are the building blocks of classical French pastry/baking, including ice cream, chocolate, bread, wedding cakes, décor, and centerpieces.

  • Prepare students for weekly tests and for all levels of practical examinations and conduct weekly quizzes.

  • Ensure that weekly curriculum courses are properly prepared.

  • Assist with workshops offered by Culinary Institute.

  • Report the scores and complete the weekly student evaluation forms.

  • Participate in doing inventory and ordering and receiving ingredients for pastry class.

  • Attend Instructors’ monthly faculty meetings.

  • Make job placement recommendations for students to the Career Services Department.

  • Record/report any student violations using the disciplinary sheet.

  • Ensure that the laboratory and refrigerator are clean, and all ingredients are covered, labeled, and properly stored away at the end of each class, with student involvement.

  • Plan food consumption and ingredients purchases to avoid waste of ingredients.

  • Display and implement good classroom management techniques to provide a better educational and practical experience for our students.

  • Assist in retention strategies and efforts.


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Baking / Pastry Arts, or equivalent

  2. 10+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef (12+ for those on H-1B visas)

  3. Experience in creating a teamwork culture and environment among administration departments and faculty members.

  4. Must be able to work flexible hours and attend CIL events as needed.
