Les Vergers Boiron Competition ― April 2023

The Baking & Pastry department hosted the 2023 plated dessert competition on campus from April 25-26th. This year’s competition was held in partnership with Les Vergers Boiron, a leading manufacturer of frozen fruit and vegetable purees for culinary professionals.

The theme for this year's competition was "WHAT GROWS TOGETHER, GOES TOGETHER." The challenge was for the finalists to create a plated dessert that showcased their ability to use ingredients that grow naturally together, such as fruits and herbs or vegetables and grains.

The competition featured eight talented finalists who presented their stunning creations to a professional jury. The judges evaluated each dessert on a range of criteria, including creativity, fine dining quality, creative use of ingredients, taste, balance, ease of preparation, and visual appeal.

All of the competitors demonstrated exceptional skills and creativity in their presentations, making it difficult for the jurors to make a decision. However, after careful deliberation, the top three contestants were selected.

1st place: Noe Alonso Brizuela

2nd place: Arnaud Acaries

3rd place: Giovanna Vega

Congratulations to all of the competitors who participated in this year's plated dessert competition and a special congratulations to the top three finalists. We look forward to seeing what new and exciting creations these talented chefs will bring to the table in the future.
